Jeep Wrangler Changes for 2021

The major changes for the 2021 Wrangler both happen under the hood. First, there's a powerful new V8 engine available with the Rubicon trim, delivering a massive 470 horsepower for superb off-road performance. Second, the 4xe adds an advanced plug-in hybrid powertrain to the Wrangler range for the first time.

Power and Performance

While the Rubicon's new V8 engine will certainly set pulses racing, even the lower-level Wrangler trims offer an excellent amount of power and performance. The standard engine is a 3.6L V6 making 285 horsepower, passed to part-time all-wheel drive through a choice of six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmissions. Diesel fans will enjoy the torque-heavy 3.0L V6 which makes 260hp and 422lb-ft, while the 4xe's hybrid system delivers a combined output of 375hp and 470lb-ft. What's more, the hybrid is said to deliver up to 40km of electric-only range, impressive acceleration of 0-100kmh in 6 seconds, and great fuel economy figures as low as 4.7L / 100km.
